The pantaneta de Alhama was declared a specially important place for birds as they have been coming to nest and spend the winters since this wetland reservoir was built thirty years ago.
Now, birdwatching lovers can enjoy their visit to this fantastic place, walking through El Tajo, the natural monument of Alhama de Granada, the Gorge arriving to the wetland in just 35 minutes walk.
You will find special birdwatching cabins and the surrounding area is just spectacular. Lunch in one of the famous nearby restaurants and a trek back to town will be a day to remember.
