Histories and Legends of Alhama

This tour will take you through the most relevant places and moments in Alhama´s history presented by a specialist guide, Silverio Galvez Moyano.

Discover the Árab Alhama, the invention of the paper money by the Conde of Tendilla, the presence of Queen Isabel and her legacy in Alhama or the legend of the Cenotia witch, the first transsexual surgeon known as Elena de Céspedes. Admire the famous picture “Christ without a face” from Alonso Cano and hear its history and legend. Be surprised by the Inquisition House and its real story. Visit the Church of the Virgin of the Remedies, closed to the public in 1935 and opened only for your group.

Silverio Galvez Moyano is a historian, specialist in Alhama´s history and a member of the Alhameño Studies Association.

A leaflet with the tour information is available in English for you to enjoy and understand the tour highlights. Observations: Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Due to the characteristics of the terrain, this route is not fit for people with restricted mobility or wheelchair users.
